Question

The Battle of Maldon tells a story of battle from the eyes of hero Byrntnoth during the Viking Invasion of England in 991. This is an ancient Epic poem with traits both Vikings and Anglo-Saxons share: brave and courageous men determined to gain honor, glory (fame/fortune), dignified deaths and remembrance songs. "The Wanderer", "The Wife's Lament" and "The Seafarer" give us an opposite perspective of this pride from a place of severe depression. What gender roles or social issues are implied in these poems?
