As given in the sketch, kerosene at 90°F is being drained through 100 feet of 4 inch schedule 80 pipe from a storage tank at 10 psig to a settling tank as given. The pipe discharge is 20 feet below the level of the storage tank. The pipe contains a swing check valve, a gate valve, two long radius elbows and a strainer with a loss coefficient, k, of 2.5. The entrance is inward projecting. What flow will be expected if the gate valve is one-half open?
