Scenario

As a refugee from Sudan, Asanti has been living in Australia for three years. Asanti works for an organisation that provides domestic and personal care support to people who live in the community. Other staff in the organisation have noticed that she appears very anxious around male colleagues and tends to avoid speaking with them when in the office.

Asanti has made repeated requests to her supervisor that she is not scheduled to attend services for male clients in the community and will often go homesick when she is scheduled to attend services of male clients.

Asanti approaches the supervisor and states that she overheard Emma, another staff member, discussing Asanti in the staffroom, saying that she believes Asanti just wants the easy jobs and that maybe she is a lesbian because she just does not like men.
