12 Angry Men Paper:
This assignment is based on the 12 Angry Men video that can be accessed via the Moodle page. You are responsible for watching the video outside of class. Please answer the following questions in the form of four short answer essays. Number your answers for this paper.
Question I. Critique the jury group in the film 12 Angry Men as an example of a task group. Review the section on "Task Groups" in the Corey text (pg. 7), the power points, and/or any outside resources. Then describe how the different characteristics of a task group apply to the jury group in 12 Angry Men.
Question II. Critique the group leader (The jury foreman - Juror #1) from the perspective of sharing group leadership, providing a safe environment for the members, active listening, and remaining open and non-defensive.
Question III. What feelings did you identify in yourself as you watched the jurors (clients)? It may be helpful to review the definition of countertransference found in the textbook. How could the countertransference you identified negatively affect your behavior as a group leader if it went unchecked?
Question IV. The relationships that develop between the members of a group can positively and negatively affect whether or not the group achieves its goals (tasks). Give one positive and one negative example of a member relationship that affects the attainment of the group's goal in the film.
