Important:
1. Please do not skip any assignments because you will need all course project work from Week 1 thru Week 6 for the Final Course Project. You will not be using Application 7 for the Final Course Project.
2.You should be working on revisions throughout the course. Please work on the recommended revisions from your instructor in content and writing each week. Do not wait until week 8 to do revisions. In grading your Final Project, the instructor will check to see that revisions have been done from original submissions.
As you have been learning, transformational learning is about dramatic change. It refers to changing what you know (and sometimes even who you are!), as opposed to simply extending what you already know. Experiential learning acknowledges the individual characteristics of the learner and his or her perception of the learning environment. Self-directed learning asserts that important learning occurs outside of formal educational settings. This type of learning rests solely upon the motivations and interests of the individual.
For this week's Course Project Assignment you will continue focusing on transformational, experiential, and self-directed learning models. You will explore how you have experienced these types of learning in your own life and also investigate them in the life of another adult learner. Complete the following:
Part 1: Self-Report (2-3 pages)
Review your analysis of the character in the movie you viewed for this week's Discussion assignment.
Compare and contrast the major movie character's learning with your own learning. How are you similar or different from the character relative to the transformational, experiential, and self-directed learning models?
What is your learning profile as a character in the movie of your life? Provide examples of the transformational, experiential, and self-directed learning models in your life. Describe a time you have learned in each of these ways.
How has what you've learned this week impacted you as an adult learner? To what extent will it influence you as an adult educator? Explain.
Part 2: Interview an Adult Learner (1-2 pages)
Select an adult to interview who is actively involved in a learning experience. This person can be a friend, family member, colleague, or fellow classmate. Set up a time to conduct the interview, whether in person or by telephone. You will need between 20 minutes and one hour to complete the interview.
While you conduct your interview, take notes and fill out the Interviewing an Adult Learner worksheet, located in your Week 4 Learning
Resources.
After you complete the interview, describe what you learned about transformation, experiential, and self-directed learning. How will this new information impact your practice as an adult educator?
The form "Interviewing an Adult Learner Worksheet," should go in an Appendiz after the reference list. Please take direct quotations or specific information from the interview to support what you are saying. Be specific and provide concrete examples. Refer to this week's Learning Resources. Use required course materials to support what you are saying and cite in APA format. Include Optional Resources from the Resource Page or other resources that you have found on your own-as additional creditable sources to qualify for an A.
To earn a grade of A: Use creditable sources in addition to course videos and required readings and cite in APA format. Include additional resources and not just required resources. On the Resource Page each week: The Learning Resources are divided into three areas: Required Reading, Media, and Optional Resources (supplemental). Optional Resources (supplemental) count as additional resources.
