COVID-19 has required companies and organizations of all kinds to adapt their practices in order to slow down the spread of the virus. Government organizations and companies, at different levels, continuously attempt to influence public and employee behaviour and practices.

Examples include promoting social distancing, reduced travel, isolation/quarantine, use (or no use) of masks, and more.

For your answer to Problem 1, collect examples for such influence attempts from "external sources". External sources can be notices from government agencies, media articles (such as onnews websites), social media posts, company mass emails, and the like. See more details aboutthe external sources at the bottom of this page.

Use these external sources that you collected to answer the following Problem:

• Identify what types of power and influence tactics are being used by the communicator to change public (and/or employee) behaviour? How are they used and are they effective? To what extent are they increasing internalization and compliance?

• In you answer, apply relevant concepts from our course materials using specific examples from your external sources to illustrate the concepts. Ensure to articulate your arguments clearly and provide support for your claims.

Include a Reference List at the end of the answer withlinks (URLs) and listing of the external sources. Citation and a reference list are expected;however, no specific citation format is required. You may use APA format.

How many external sources should I use? A good number is about 3-4 external sources that show the use of a wide range of types of power and influence tactics. In addition to those external sources, you can also add use of personal experience as an additional source.
