Case Study: In Book 4 of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle identifies "pride" or "high-mindedness" as a virtue and "humility" as a vice. For some, this might strike as odd since we may have grown up to believe that being humble is "good" and being prideful is "bad" based on our religious/social backgrounds. On the surface, Aristotle seems to be advocating something completely contrary to the Judeo-Christian worldview at minimum (one can see how controversial Aristotle would be perceived during the Medieval time period from this alone

Question: what exactly does Aristotle seem to be saying when he claims that "high-mindedness" is a virtue and "humility" is a vice? What merit, if any, do Aristotle's claims have? Do you agree or disagree with Aristotle on these points and why?
