What if, say, Edgar Allan Poe, Elvis Presley, or Guglielmo Marconi had a Facebook account? What would it look like? Who would be on his friends list - or on his blocked list? What would he say to his friends - and what would they say back to him? Of which groups would he be a member? What would he say in the notes he might post about his life? What events would he list on his site?
You will want to choose an important historical media figure (for example, Johannes Guttenberg). It can be an early inventor, author, magazine editor, actor/ actress, musician, etc. The options are endless! But you need to choose someone who influenced media, not just a pop culture icon who may have influenced an industry like fashion or sports. For example, Johannes Guttenberg created the printing press, Elvis Presley changed the face of music and rock and roll, Guglielmo Marconi invented radio, etc. Your book has TONS of examples of people who impacted the media industries. ***NOTE: You cannot choose someone who has or had a Facebook profile at any point in time (for example, you could not pick Lady Gaga or Steve Jobs, and you cannot choose Edgar Allan Poe for obvious reasons).
Then, using the attached PowerPoint skeleton (below), you will fill in all of the information for his/her "Fakebook" profile. All 11 slides must be FULLY completed in order to earn credit - DO NOT DELETE ANY SLIDES. Under the "notes" section of the PowerPoint, you will see specific directions to help you along. This assignment will require some outside research (which you will cite on slide 7).
