Carol, who works as a receptionist for HS Healthcare, a large HMO in her region, is experiencing many difficulties and sought counseling because of depression and anxiety. Since she's an employee of the HMO, she has full benefits provided by the company. She begins treatment with Dr. Duncan, a psychologist, to help with her presenting problems. To authorize treatment, Dr. Duncan contacts the HMO to request services, and provides basic information about Carol's case including the presenting problem treatment goals, and diagnosis. Later that day, a service manager came to Carol and remarked, "You're in good hands. Dr. Duncan is a great clinician."
