Dora Weatherford is a 58 year-old female who has been employed as an assembly line worker at Plastics R' Us for 28 years. The first 26 years of her employment, Dora was an exemplary employee, never missing work and always meeting quality and production standards. She also got along well with co-workers, in fact many affectionately called her "Granny Dora." The last two years have been quite different. About two years ago, Dora's quality began to slip and she started having trouble keeping up with the production pace on the assembly line. Initially, other workers tried to take up her slack, but after this deterioration in her performance continued for several months, the other workers began to resent having to do the "extra work." Dora's supervisor had talked with Dora on numerous occasions and she always became very upset by his articulated performance concerns and would often give an abrasive response repeatedly stating she was having "mental problems." This same attitude permeated into her relationships with other employees and she would often get angry and use profanity to express her disgust when fellow workers complained or acted inconvenienced by picking up part of her work load or fixing an assembly with which she had made errors.
