The image analysis is one of the student learning outcomes for English 111, and evaluates a student's ability to evaluate/interpret a non-text based image. There are no "wrong" answers to this assignment; you are simply required to offer your interpretation of the image from the 2004 Tsunami.
Consider how you would use the projected image from National Geographic in a research essay about the work of non-profit organizations during a major disaster. Use two to three complete sentences to answer each of the following five questions.
Question 1. If this photograph were used as a visual, what might your thesis be - considering the context of the essay?
Question 2. What emotions does this visual evoke - on both a personal and global scale?
Question 3. What caption would you place under the image? Would the source of the image need to be cited, and why or why not?
Question 4. How could a writer make this photograph relevant to someone living inland where tsunamis are not a danger?
Question 5. What other visuals might you want to incorporate into a paper on this topic, and what purpose would they serve?
