Learning outcomes - The work that you do in this topic will help you to achieve the following learning outcomes in the subject:

In this topic, you will be studying two things.
1. A framework for understanding national cultural differences.
2. Application of this framework in cross-cultural management.

1. Have you ever experienced cross-cultural difference in a work situation, perhaps in a global management context; or, in a study situation?
2. Does this first framework assist in making sense of the particular issue/s that you faced?
3. Reflecting on your reactions at the time, what insights arise regarding your cross-cultural skills?
Learning activity 2 -
1. Which of the two frameworks appeals to you?
2. Do you think there are gaps in the dimensions of Hofstede's framework?
3. Thinking back to a situation of cultural difference that you have faced, apply one or both of these frameworks to analyse the situation.
