Question: After reading the article, "Building Mental Health into Emergency Responses," in your opintion, what is one civic responsibility to your community? What actions could you take as a citizen to ensure that mental health crisis teams are available to assist police dispatchers and law enforcement in responding to 911 calls? Additionally, describe what your effective participation in civic engagement activities would look like? Finally, in your opinion, how would your participation in the aforementioned (response to previous question) civic engagement activities ultimately be of benefit to the entire community?

In your opinion, what is the issue(s) or problem(s) that smaller police departments must confront or overcome if they want more resources allocated to their efforts to address mental health crises of people who are the focus of 911 calls? In addition, what entities from the respective city or municipality must be engaged if the aforementioned problem(s) or issue(s) is/are to be resolved? What compelling argument can or must be made to these respective entities to convince them to increase allocation of resources to these smaller departments?
