Non-verbal communication is also dynamic and related to cultural factors. Non-verbal communication includes body posture, gestures, facial expression, eye contact and movement, and silence. It can support or contradict the meaning of oral messages. If, for example, a teacher hands back tests and says in a sarcastic tone, "Well, that was a great effort," and rolls her eyes for added effect, the message is actually the opposite of what the words say. Words are believed to carry only 7 percent of the meaning of a message in a face-to-face exchange, while tone of voice accounts for 38 percent, and facial expression 55 percent.
