Procedure: Developing the training plan
1. First, conduct research to see where this has been done before and how it has been effective. That is, do some research and see how others have effectively trained people on this problem. You may tailor this to suit your needs. Meaning, you may make adjustments or be more creative. You don't have to follow exactly what others have done before. Just be sure to use the research as support, or strong evidence, for what you'll be doing in your training program.
2. Introduce the training program - e.g. who will be trained, when, what training do they need? This does not need to be extensive, just clear.
3. Form the training plan. Think through all the various aspects of the issue/challenge/opportunity. Make a plan to curb or address these from a communication perspective. This is the bulk of the entire project and is weighted heavily on your overall grade for the project. Thus, this section should reflect the two-week timeframe provided to complete the project.
You'll want to address the following:
How will you train employees?
- Think about individually, in groups, on the sales floor, in meetings, through mentoring programs, etc. Be specific about your approach and why.
What does the training look like in practice? That is, what training will you conduct to improve communication in this area.
- Provide sufficient detail about how the training will be conducted.
- Be specific. Again, be evidence-based.
