Task Description
The response to this assessment task must be grounded in the Australian Curriculum.
In this assignment preservice teachers will create their own literacy e-portfolio utilising accessible ICT resources such as wikis, blogs, Google Docs, Google Sites, and WordPress.
Outline: Develop a multimodal literacy profile of yourself to showcase your understanding, knowledge and skills. You are encouraged to add photos, text, images, music and so forth as a part of your individual profile.
Key components of your profile will include:
• What is literacy? What does the research say? All components of your portfolio must draw on this definition.
• Evaluate a chosen literacy practice in which you currently engage with regularly using the Australian Curriculum. You can use EYLF if you wish to analyse your activity from the perspective of a child's needs.
• How are these current uses related to your history as a school student?
• Reflections of your literacy knowledge, skills and needs.
• All theoretical statements must be referenced, with Author, Source, Year and Page.
Assessment Criteria
• Accurately defines literacy - for example: personal, cultural and social
• Presents a range of relevant examples to support discussion
• Critically examines relevant readings and research to reflect on literacy development
• Reflects on the development of literacy profiles and how this information can influence teaching pedagogy and effective strategies for learners in diverse classroom settings and
• Utilises chosen ICT effectively to communicate ideas to peers within a professional learning community.
