A 27-year old female client comes to the emergency room at 10 Am complaining of sudden periumbilical pain that radiates to the RLQ ( right lower quadrant). She says that the pain started about 2 o'clock this morning and wasn't too bad, but now it' s unbearable. Upon physical examination, the client's oral temperature in the periumbilical is elevated, 101 F (38.3 C). Her abdomen is rigid and she has rebound tenderness in the periumbilical and RLQ regions.
