Walmart is trying to determine if they should issue a 6% semi-annual coupon bond with 10 years until maturity or an 8% coupon semi-annual bond with 5 years until maturity. Comparable bonds are offering a yield-to-maturity of 7% right now but interest rates are expected to increase by 1% since the Federal Reserve anticipates 4% inflation and wants to slow the economy down so that inflation doesn't get out of hand.
