Case: During Mr. Albertson's trip to China, four office professionals came to you and asked if you knew anything about a downsizing that
was about to occur at CanAsian. You were surprised since you had heard nothing. They were extremely upset; the last time CanAsian had a downsizing, they were told it was the last one. However, two supervisors recently told them that several meetings were held to discuss an imminent downsizing. You have several concerns: Mr. Albertson has told you nothing. Maybe the rumours are not true, but they seem to be coming from good sources. You are worried about your job. Will there still be a position in the company for you if your present job is eliminated? You are concerned about the other employees. You wonder about your relationship with Mr. Albertson. He has always been honest with you; however, if this rumour is true and he has not told you, what does his silence mean? How should you handle this situation?
