Whooping cough is caused by Bordetella pertussis. According to the CDC, "The bacteria attach to the cilia of the respiratory epithelial cells, produce toxins that paralyze the cilia, and cause inflammation of the respiratory tract, which interferes with the clearing of pulmonary secretions." This disease is becoming more common than it has been in years since regular vaccination began in the 1940's. Localized outbreaks of pertussis are not uncommon and occur throughout the year. Worldwide, there are 30-50 million pertussis cases and about 300,000 deaths per year.( https://www.cdc.gov/pertussis/countries.html )Please explain in details also cite your references.
