Problem I. Feel free to make a bullet point list. What do you THINK you know about research and references at the college level?
Problem II. WHAT DID YOU LEARN ABOUT RESEARCH AND REFERENCES?
Problem III. There are several challenges to communicating in an online classroom environment as opposed to an actual "brick and mortar" classroom. Tone is indistinguishable, at least auditory tones and cues. None-verbal cues such as gestures, posture, positioning, and facial expressions are non-existent in an online class. One cannot watch and observe fellow classmates to assess how what is being said is being perceived and processed. Also, there is less moderation and conversations can easily move off track or be taken as more confrontational than intended. Steps that may be taken to avoid these pitfalls and overcome the disadvantages are varied. Reading and re-reading what one has written before posting is one such method. Using non-confrontational terms and language is another. It is best to assume that each person posting has the best intentions and to be open to differing points of view, which also leads to a better experience. One may also ask clarifying questions and must be willing to answer them as well. Healthy discussion is always an important part of learning. All of these actions will lead to a better experience in the online classroom. What is your thought?
Problem IV. Copying is one of our topics of discussion this week, so you will be seeing verses that relate through this in form of integrity. The first verse that we will look at is from Corinthians 2: "For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man" (2 Corinthians 8:21). What do you think is important about this verse?
Problem V. What do you WANT to know about research and references at the college level?
Problem VI. Prior to this course and even in UNV-103, I have not utilized any writing in a professional way since high-school ten years ago. In all my writing pertaining to my jobs I have held, they have been informal and basic sentences for notes pertaining to maintenance on vehicles or equipment. I have utilized Indeed to help build a resume, but that is the extent of resources used for writing. So far, I have utilized the GCU Library and the citation tool to help cite my sources correctly. I have also used Word editor to verify my grammar and spelling is correct. As I continue my education and in further assignments, I am sure I will utilize more of the writing resources GCU has to offer to help expand my writing capacity. What is your thought?
