Question: In my company, the sick time policy is seven days for the whole year. The company provides a total of 40 hours paid of sick time. The sick time policy states that employees are allowed to use the sick days for themselves as well as for their children and immediate family if they have to take care for them. The extra days do not carry over to the next year, so it would be best to use all your sick days within that year. If employees have a perfect attendance they do receive a bonus at the end of the year for not using their sick time. The current sick time policy does not have a negative effect on employee behavior. If employees are sick they will use their sick time, and many will end up using all their days before the year ends. Others who do not get sick easily and love always working may have perfect attendance and do end up receiving a bonus at the end of the year. I personally will use all my sick days before the end of the year since it does not carry into the next year, and why not take a mental break from life from time to time. Employees that come into work sick and sound terrible will be sent home by the Manager or VP of the company in order not to infect the other employees in the office.

What is your opinion on this and what do you think you can add?
