As I continue to advance my police administration career, I intended to utilize the methods in this course to identify crime prevention and crime reduction strategies that are evidence based in order to establish best practices for resource allocation. Another area to research will be recruiting, hiring and training practices that can improve the performance of police officers to further strengthen police and community relations. I have witnessed a large evolution in police work In My 15-year career and know that officers will have to continue to become more well-rounded and focused on de-escalation, mental health response, community relations, crime prevention rather than enforcement.

The most important take always from the course are where to focus when starting research and ensuring a clear question is posed so as not to allocate resources on the wrong question. Secondarily to evaluate and adjust research questions and techniques as necessary as results shape direction of research projects.
