Martha was, unabashedly, a city person, and had been raised in a city and went to school in a city. She applied for a job with a state social services agency, thinking she would be placed in one of the state's several large cities. However, when she was hired and offered extra pay for relocating to a rural area where the cost of living was somewhat lower, she thought about the pressure of repaying her student loans and decided to at least try it.
