Enhancing Motivation for Creativity Single-spaced, Min. 750 words Our reading (Starko Ch. 9) discussed the complicated relationships and the different research findings between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation.
Question 1. There are the 5 factors (p. 289) that are associated with reduced student creativity in this reading.
Please answer all questions below by supporting your answers with the classroom materials (e.g., Davis, Ch. 2, 6, Beghetto & Kaufman, Lubart).
A) What do you think of its discussion about evaluation? Do we need to evaluate? Why/Why not? How can we evaluate (if we must evaluate) without killing creativity?
B) When does reward work or not? Is it true to you? When does/does not reward work for you?
C) Any interesting study findings for you concerning competition and lack of choice?
Question 2. Examine how evaluation, reward, competition, and choice are operating in your classes you are taking or have taken before.
What are/were supportive for your intrinsic motivation?
Please provide concrete examples with the classroom connection of the creativity process (Davis Ch. 6). If there was a class where your motivation was diminished, please tell us the reasons and the ways you would want to change if you were a teacher of the class.
