Case Study: Solutions to the issue of plastic pollution. What a controversial head hurter. I feel like if we had a viable solution, hopefully someone would have done something about it by now. But alas, humanity is always wanting more, wanting bigger and better and we don't ever want to be inconvenienced. So, in the case of plastic pollution, I don't think it's going anywhere any time soon.

I do have a suggestion, that many will hate, and I'm not sure as to how much good it will truly do.....but,

no more bottled water. Water should be a free resource provided to all (I'm talking "small" scale, United States wise, not world wide- that would be much larger topic). We should be required to carry our own reusable water bottle everywhere we go. I don't know a single person that doesn't already have a water bottle in their possession, so why not actually use them. I think we should make water bottles extremely undesirable and very costly. They should be used for emergency cases only. There could be some sort of law and regulation put into place to have filtered tap water accessible everywhere and in every home. Truly, most places that you would buy a plastic water bottle from already has a fountain of some sort. Think of Starbucks, any restaurant, fast food joint or gas station, they all have fountains that dispense water. Why not utilize that. I think this could reduce emissions from processing and distributing these bottles and it would also drastically decrease our plastic pollution. A con would probably be some push back from people. (just like plastic bags at the store, lots of people hate that they have to buy a bag if they forgot theirs. Most people don't bring theirs anyways - but how easy is it?) Another con would be emergency situations. Bottle water can be crucial in times of crisis, for example Flint Michigan.
