"Strategic planning is a process through which organization leaders determine their future vision of an organization and establish goals and objectives for the future. Strategic planning sets realistic short-term goals which provide direction to an organization. It is also important because it drives employee motivation. Strategic planning creates commitment to the values of the organization. Through strategic planning, performance can be evaluated, and future decisions can be made that are tailored to specific needs. Strategic planning is a dynamic process that encourages out-of-the-box thinking. Because planning has to incorporate political, economic, technological, cultural, and environmental aspects, it cannot be a linear process. Dynamic processes provide the flexibility needed throughout the system. (Bigelow, S. J., & Pratt, M. K, 2022). Linear processes belong to a previous era that used fixed policies to drive results. Linear process involve having predetermined phases with a step-by step approach, once complete you are able to go on from step A to B until you reached the end.
Dynamic decision-making is where you don't have time to decide and analyze the pros and cons. You can in a responsive and reflex manner. One example of dynamic decision-making in healthcare could include emergency operations and emergency patient cases, patients are more and rooms are not as much as the patients like the times of covid-19 this year. Linear decision-making is where you have time, and thus you evaluate all the negative and positive factors before making any decision. One example of linear decision-making in healthcare management includes using the insurance money for your treatment as some people prefer to think before they use or hire a new employee by the management. Manager can use a linear decision-making process when he/she are faced with uncertain, complex situations and they cannot get the right information to make a good decision quickly, they are apt to rely on hunches and intuition (Learning, L., 2019)."
