Questions: In this activity you are going to simulate glaciers moving over a landscape by using flour, ice, sand, and gravel. Begin with a disposable plastic cup and fill the bottom with a thin layer of sand and gravel. Add water to cover the sand/gravel by about ½", then freeze it overnight.
Take with a tray and cover it in approximately ¼" of flour. This will represent your landscape. Now remove your ice from the cup and place it on one end of your flour filled tray. This will represent your glacier. Begin pushing your ice block across the landscape.

1. What do you notice about the front end of your ice block? What is happening here? How does this relate to glacial landforms?

2. What do you notice about the trail left behind by the ice block? What glacial features does this represent?

3.Let your ice mixture melt for a bit, then start dragging it more. What do you notice about the material that is left behind?
