Case Scenario:

Your project team includes a number of stakeholders from different departments across your organization. You assign Mark from Marketing the WBS activity to prepare a Marketing Plan and he agrees to get it to you by Friday.
Friday comes and goes, no Marketing Plan from Mark. When you speak to him about it, he says he "got slammed" this week with other stuff and will get it to you by next Wednesday.
Next Wednesday comes and goes, still no plan from Mark. This task is on critical path.

Walk me through the process you would go through to when initiating and defining a project. (eg. Assume you are the project manager and just starting up a new project. What are some of the things you would do first? Lead me through the steps you would take?

2. What are their Needs/Requirements?
3. What Project Scope would best meet their Needs?
4. How would you Define the Scope?
5. What needs to be Documented?
6. Who needs to sign-off?

Question 3- Project Planning

Walk me through the process or steps you would go through when facilitating the planning phase of a project.

For Consideration:

1. What are the Deliverables and Key Milestones?
2. What is the Work Activity leading to those Deliverables?
3. Who is Responsible for that activity?
4. When will they need to complete their tasks by?
5. How are we documenting and communicating this plan?

Question 4- Project Execution

Walk me through the process or steps you would go through when monitoring and controlling the project.

For Consideration:

1. What will the Project Management Infrastructure look like?
2. What is your system for Monitoring the project?
3. What is your Risk Management plan?
4. How will you follow-up and hold people accountable?
5. How will you Communicate status to stakeholders?
6. How will you deal with Changes to scope?

Question 5- Project Monitoring

Walkthrough the key components that you would include on your project status report.
Explain why each are important.

Question 6- Project Close

Walk me through the process or steps you would go through when closing off a project.

1. How do we know that we met Quality expectations?
2. How will we plan to Launch the project?
3. How will we Communicate launch to stakeholders?
4. What sort of Training is necessary?
5. What were the Lessons Learned?
