Websites
1. Find the daily digest for the Senate or the floor proceedings for the House (found on their respective home pages) and discuss what was happening on the day you picked to review.
2. What activity is happening on the floor of the House and/or Senate the day you visited? If there is nothing happening that day - pick a day where there was some action!
Session Viewing
1. What happened during your session viewing? Was it live or recorded? Who spoke? What actions happened? What else would you like to share about it? This should be at least 1-2 paragraphs long.
NOTE: There is a lot of down time on the Senate/House floor, there are also a lot of speeches and some paperwork processing. You will see that there is a formal process they follow. Feel free to skip around if you are watching the video to where some action happens. If you are watching live, you will want to watch long enough to see some activity. You can view their schedules on the home page - daily digest for the Senate and Floor Proceedings for the House - which can help you plan when you want to watch
Committee Meeting
1. What committee did you visit? In which chamber? What did they discuss?
Congress - Bills and Reps
1. Congress does thousands of bills, locate 2 bills to discuss in your assignment - what is it focused on, where is it in the bill making process (ie: in committee), who authored it, who sponsored it, etc.
2. Who are your Senators (remember, every state has 2) and who is the person who represents you in the House of Representatives
(HINT: some states have only 1 representative in the House of Representatives, other states have more - remember it is based on population, roughly 600,000 people per representative - states where there are more than one representative will be divided into districts, so you want to find the representative that serves in your district. You will be able to find this on House.gov.)
Reflect on your visit to Congress. What were you surprised by? What did you think about the process? What do you think about the bill making process. Etc. Provide at least 3 things you learned.
