Electrons from a heated filament pass through a hole in the cathode. They are then accelerated between the cathode and anode. When they pass through the anode they are travelling at 8.4x10^6 m/s. They then pass through parallel plates. The plates have an area of 6.25x10^-4 m^2 and are separated by a distance of 0.005 m. The uniform electric field between them is 1.0x10^3 N/C.
