Mrs. J., age 32, is a Chinese-American, has been married for 20 years to a TV newscaster. She has two 16-year-old twins who are in high school. She travels extensively to China, in her employment for an international computer company. She's coming in for a routine physical - because she said over the phone she has a scratchy throat, no energy and has lost some weight. She also thinks she's had a temperature for several days.
CC: "I occasionally get sweaty episodes at night. I can't stand sweating at night and think I'm too young for menopause. Besides, I still get my period." Her last gyne exam was about a year ago. She is currently and has been heterosexually active with 2 partners for 3 years.
Physical examination: Temp101°F, HR 68, RR 18, B/P 110/60. Ht. 5'6"; Wt. 122 lbs. unintentional weight loss of 10 lbs. since her gyne visit last year.
Flu-like symptoms
Nonproductive cough
Bilateral lymphadenopathy in cervical, supraclavicular and axillary nodes
Decreased breath sounds in bilateral bases
White hair-like growth on tongue
