Josue is a 22-year-old Hispanic male who lives with his parents. He recently flunked out of medical school. Josue's parents are trying to find a counselor for Josue due to some odd behaviors they've noticed that have escalated over the past seven months. Josue is not actively seeking a job, education, or spending time with friends, which is not characteristic for him. He is isolating in his room and sleeping during the day. At night, while his parents are asleep, Josue paces around the house. Occasionally his parents have woken up and heard Josue muttering to himself in a low voice, as if someone was speaking to him. There was not anyone else in the room with Josue. When Josue does interact with his parents, his facial expressions seem blank, and he frequently changes the subject. Josue's parents decided to seek help when he mentioned that he and his former high school math teacher are in love and planning to move to Minsk together. Although the math teacher was living in a different state, Josue insisted that she was sending him coded messages through the local newspaper, based on the type of ad on the second page. Josue stated that this secret code was being used to prevent the teacher's husband from discovering their plan.
