Assignment:
Richard's daughter, Teresea, is 3-years old. She has the ability to move and function well, and has a good command of language for her age. She is able to convey meaning through the use of simply sentences. One of her favorite pastimes is playing with her baby dolls. Four months ago, her mother and father had a son, Jarvis, whom Teresea was eager to meet. When her mother breastfeeds Jarvis, Teresea often mimics her mother with her baby doll. When her mother or father change Jarvis' diaper, Teresea too changes the diaper of her baby doll(s). Teresea would often talk about being a 'mommy, and asked for a kitchen set for her birthday. Her mother tends to do the cooking in the kitchen, and her father tends to do the cooking on the barbeque.
As such, Teresea received a kitchen set for her birthday. When she went to use her new set, there were a wide variety of toddler-safe utensils in it, however, Teresea, despite there being spoons, knives, tongs, etc., called all of them 'forks.' What developmental pattern of thought is Thersea progressing through regarding her understanding of the available utensils?
