Problem

Find a recent job description for a position that is in an industry you are interested in. For example, you may be interested in becoming a Information Technology (IT) Support Technician, and would therefore search for jobs in the IT industry. Using the Chronological Résumé format, design a résumé that you could use to apply for this job. This is an aspirational assignment-meaning you are free to invent the skills and experiences you think you would need to obtain this job, if you do not already have them. Whether you use actual or aspirational content here, be sure to maximize the potential of your résumé by clearly connecting all of its elements to criteria listed in the job description.

I. Objective or Statement of Interest: This section should include a single sentence that outlines what industry and position you want to work in, and why.

II. Employment Experience: Create two prior employment entries (using reverse chronological order). Also Each entry should include a minimum of 4 bullet points that outline work performed, skills utilized, and any additional accolades earned while employed.

III. Education: What degree(s) would you need to apply for this job? You'll definitely want to look to see what degree/field is required in the posting, but you can also get creative about your educational experiences. For example-is there a minor that you might say you majored in, that could help you with this particular job? Would it help to have an advanced degree? Would a certificate in a specific skill-area be helpful? At minimum, plan to list one degree relevant to the position.

IV. Writer's Choice: (You can label this as you see fit.) In this section, you can choose to include any extra information that might impress your employer. Think about the value of including a section on: Community service/volunteer work, Committee work, Certificates or courses that will be useful to the position. These are just starting points. You are free to design any content here that is relevant to your aspirational résumé . Just be sure that you have at least three bullet points here, that speak to why you have included this section (what skills do you hope to showcase by sharing these experiences?).

V. References: Practice creating 2 reference entries. Each entry should include a reference name, title, company, phone, and email. You are free to make up this information-this is just for formatting practice.
