Case Study: Mira has just begun her first job in the social work field after completing her MSW. She is newly licensed, and her only experience in the helping professions came from her two field placements. She works at a community mental health clinic serving adults with various needs and diagnostic presentations. Her supervisor, Amy, is the clinic's Assistant Director and is divided between seeing her clients, supervising several clinicians, and a range of administrative responsibilities. Amy has a scheduled hour with Mira on alternating weeks but is frequently late or has to cancel. She is always able to make herself available when a "crisis" occurs and Mira needs immediate support. Mira comes to the biweekly supervision with a list of her most complex cases and can sometimes review and troubleshoot 2 3 issues, which she finds helpful.
