What defines a story as a Trickster Tale in literature? What are character traits of these tales?
• Do they follow the various descriptions we have used to define fairy tales?
• How does a trickster tale differ from other tales and fables?
• What is the value or point of these tales? Do they have lessons that could be used for with children? Look around into one of these characters know for their cleverness. You
might want to focus on an animal type (spider, rabbit, fox, etc.) or a trickster tale from a
specific culture (Native American, Norse, Japan, etc. ) Look for information on the character or tales, be sure to find descriptions of the archetype of the trickster. Are there any specific
behaviors or special traits? Does this trickster trick the same characters in the stories?
• List some of the tales that involves the character, including any tale you found online and
were able to read.
