Question: Find a peer reviewed article (published research article) on a topic of interest. Review Chapter 1 for the definitions of a Peer Reviewed article. Use search engines such as the FCC Library's EBSCO Host or Google Scholar to locate your article. REMEMBER:

just because the article is found on EBSCO Host or Google Scholar does not mean that it is automatically peer reviewed; the article must follow the parameters set out in Chapter 1. The article must also be nutrition-related and relevant to this course.

Analyze and summarize the article keeping the following information in mind:
• Who is the author? (affiliations, biases, qualifications)
• Date of article/book (historical, recent, out-dated)
• What is the general problem that the author is addressing?
• What is the author's hypothesis? What is the argument that the author is making? (If there is no argument being made, then what is the purpose of the article?)
• What data or evidence does the author use to support the hypothesis? What kind of data is it (original? secondary?)
• What types of cites/references does the author give (out-dated? Relevant? Biased? Limited or broad in scope?)
• Does the author omit any important data (especially data that might not support the hypothesis)?
• What conclusion does the author reach? Did the author prove the hypothesis? Why or why not?
• Do the data support the conclusion? In other words, does the argument make sense?
• How does the information in this article relate to what you already know about the subject matter?
• Was the article clearly written?
