Question: In this assignment you will write a 4-5-page paper that integrates course material and research into an informative travel guide for possible travelers to your chosen destination.
Procedures
1. Select an unfamiliar travel destination somewhere in the world. You may choose a country, state, city, or region.
2. Research your destination and develop a travel guide that provides valuable information for a traveler to this destination. Provide communication skills and knowledge so that travelers may interact successfully with the local people of the area.
Must include:
A brief history, a map, and at least one picture of this destination.
Include at least 8 of the following questions that will help guide your research:
What are some common greetings?
If a different language is spoken, include necessary phrases a traveler should know.
Are there any differences in nonverbal communication?
What manners and etiquette are important to know?
What cuisine will travelers experience?
What beliefs or values are we likely to encounter?
Will one be treated differently because of gender or ethnicity?
What is the climate currently?
Are there any "must see" travel sites in this location?
What attire is common?
Are there any significant facts pertaining to the area? For example, largest redwood tree, famous author, birthplace of jazz... etc.
3. Write this paper from the point of view of a travel guide. For example, "If you have chosen Egypt as your next vacation, it is important to dress on the conservative side." Address your audience directly which is common in many travel guides and brochures. (Second person perspective)
4. Choose a creative title and have fun putting together this guide for traveling to this destination.
Requirements
This paper must be 4-5 pages, typed, double spaced with 1-inch margins. Use a separate title page for the title of the paper. This paper is not a travel brochure with creative graphics however, you may include graphics within the format of the paper.
