Jasmine is an account executive for Q3, an advertising agency in Toronto. After many weeks of meetings and presentations with Sweaty Armor, a large athletic footwear and clothing company, she finally managed to get them to sign a two-year contract that would pay Q3 fees of $1,000,000 per year. Everyone at Q3 was thrilled to have such an important new client and Jasmine received lots of compliments and notes of congratulations. She also received as $25,000 bonus, which she used to purchase a new sports car and for a trip to Paris. When she returned to work after her trip, her boss told her that the firm wanted her to focus on bringing in more clients so she would not be assigned to work on Sweaty Armor's advertising campaign. In the following weeks, Jasmine began to feel less excited about her job. What could explain Jasmine's decreased motivation?
