Israel's gpverning party, Likud, and its Prime Minister Netanyahu refuse to give up any part of the West Bank, quietly adding new Jewish settlements to the territories. It refuses to accept any West Bank/Gaza Palestinians as citizens and refuses to accept a Palestinian state. It has the backing of the United States Government in this policy, though the US deplores it. The Palestinians of the West Bank remain stateless, governed by the Israeli military administration.

As for the Palestinians, they will accept nothing less than their own independent state, made up of what land they still hold on the West Bank and Gaza.
