Another way to say "the system perpetuates itself" is this: since it is normally the board that hires the Executive Director and the Artistic Director, this might mean that a board that has mostly men on it may hire mostly men for these senior staff roles. In turn, then, there is a worry that men in these ED and AD roles may also hire mostly men for other roles in the organization.
