You are required to write your assignment in response to the following issue:

Issue: Recently, there has been a marked acknowledgment of the incidence and impact of Mental Health in the workplace. Declines in employee Mental Health in the workplace present organizational leaders, and human resource professionals, with serious challenges as it diminishes employee's well-being, job performance and damages organizational effectiveness. From an economic perspective, the direct and indirect costs of diminished employee Mental Health are considerable and predicted to rise for decades.

Task: Drawing on the relevant literature, this assignment requires you to define what constitutes Mental Health in the context of the workplace. You are also required to describe, then circumscribe, the incidence and impact of Mental Health on individual employees and organizations. From your synthesis and analysis of the existing literature you need to propose ways of mitigating or enhancing the effect of Mental Health in the workforce.

In responding to the above issues you will need to support your analysis with a minimum of 10 contemporary (e.g. within the last 3-5 years) references from academic journal articles, and relevant industry reports. The title page, executive summary, reference page and appendices do not comprise part of the prescribed word limit. This paper should be spaced 1.5, contain standard 2.5 cm margins, and use standard print fonts. The word count should be mentioned on the first page.

This assignment has the following objectives:

1. Investigate the role of human resource management in work settings.

2. Develop theoretical and applied research skills in relation to: a) finding information relevant to that topic; b) summarising the information; c) critically analysing the current theories, ideas and contributions and; d) writing and referencing professionally.

3. Synthesise the relevant theory and practice.
