Topic:

University has always treated student depression as a serious problem and has provided multiple mental health services in the past years. Graduate students appears to have a higher depression rate which severely affected their school and personal life compared to undergraduate students.

Please design a social research aims to ease this issue.

In a 4-7 page, double-spaced paper, detail the following:

1) Your research question

2) The methods you used and methodological decisions you made

3) Your findings (N=1; although you my collect more data if you want to)

4) Your conclusions

5) The limitations of your project.

Format:

It should be written in Times New Roman (12-pt), double-spaced, with 1" margins. Cite your published article (and any other outside sources) in ASA format.

Report Guidelines

Literature Review. (1-2 paragraphs)

a. Briefly summarize the source of your question: theory (usually deductive), prior research (deductive or inductive), observation/puzzle (more often inductive).

b. How will the proposed research build on the work of other scholars? (based on 2 sources from academic journals).
Methods (Describes the set of procedures you used to collect your data).

a. Research design. (1-2 paragraphs)

i. What research method did you use?

ii. What are the strengths of this method, particularly in relation to your research question (i.e., how is this method a good choice for studying your research question)?

b. Procedures. (1-2 paragraphs)

I. What concrete research activities did you use to do the research?

II. What data did these procedures produce?

c. Measurement. (2-3 paragraphs)

i. What concept(s) are central to this study?

ii. How did you operationalize and measure these concepts? (e.g., provide steps used to record/code traces, text, observations; provide survey or interview questions; describe steps for game or experiment).

iii. What are the strengths of this operationalization, particularly in relation to your research question (i.e., how did this operationalization help you study your research question)?

Ethical Considerations. (1-2 paragraphs)

a. What ethical issues did you address in doing your research?

Findings. (1-2 paragraphs)

a. Describe the findings of your research as it relates to your research question.

Conclusion

a. Summarize your research question and overall findings.

Limitations. (1-2 paragraphs)
