For this part of the course project, you will identify barriers that may prevent your group from participating in learning environments, envision an all-inclusive environment for your group, and develop an anti-bias action plan to meet that vision.

Part 1: Identify Barriers This part of this week's assignment will help you interpret intercultural experience from multiple perspectives and worldviews.

Using the data you gathered for the course project in Module 01, identify some of the current barriers that your group faces or has dealt with in the past in the setting you are working with.

What do you see as the major factors preventing your group from experiencing and participating fully and equally in the learning environment?

What barriers might prevent the program from following through with inclusive experiences for your group?

Are the barriers physical (for example, no handicap ramps) or related to the program content and processes (for example, no native language materials for English Language Learners [ELL] children)?

Are the barriers attitudinal (for example, the center doesn't feel comfortable serving children with special needs)? Are there any beliefs and/or biases that may be preventing your group's participation?

Part 2: Envision an Inclusive Environment Next, you will envision an all-inclusive environment for the group. Picture the ideal setting. What would it look like?

What characteristics would make the learning experience accessible and appropriate for your group? Think about all aspects of the learning environment and include information about the program design, equipment, materials, instructional strategies, curriculum, resources, and assessments.

Also think about the kinds of adult-child interactions, child-child interactions, and family-teacher interactions that would be necessary to ensure full and equal participation.

Part 3: Develop an Anti-Bias Action Plan Finding ways to counteract bias and discrimination can be challenging. In this final part of this week's course project, you will create an Anti-Bias Action Plan based on the information you have researched that details the steps necessary to counteract the type of bias and/or discrimination that your selected group has experienced. In a 7-8 page paper, include the following details: Barriers List and explain the current barriers you identified in Part 1 of this week's assignment.

State at least two alternative methods for overcoming those barriers.

Indicate which method is the best for this particular situation, and explain why. Inclusive Environment Describe the inclusive environment for your group that you envisioned in Part 2 of this week's assignment.

Discuss the benefits of having a diverse group within that environment. Suggest activities that promote an inclusive environment for children and families in the group you have chosen. Action Steps State the ultimate goal for your group relative to the bias/discrimination it has been experiencing.

Outline the action steps needed to best counteract the type of bias and/or discrimination that your selected group has experienced.

Identify the resources or materials, if any, that will be needed to achieve the goal. Develop a realistic timeline for implementing the action plan. Obstacles/Risks Identify any obstacles or risks that might prevent your plan from being carried out.

Explain whether the action is worth taking those risks. Please see attached assignment and do this on a 1 year old child that has down syndrome.
