Problem

Many people would consider our rates of political participation to be low, although "low" is a relative thing. Nonetheless, it is concerning that less than half of Americans show up to vote in most elections. There are other forms of participation, as your text discusses, and rates of involvement in these vary by demographics and across time. Consider the reasons that you text offers as to why people don't get more engaged in politics. What changes to our political structures or processes, other initiatives, might encourage greater involvement, and why?
