Problem: It is important to evaluate current living conditions to determine if an individual can safely remain in their home as they age. Imagine a house, imagine the rooms in it, the front entry, yard, and the neighborhood. Use the "Aging in Place Workbook", the "Home Safety Checklist" or to do your evaluation. Evaluate how well the home could accommodate and support an older person with declining health or disabilities such as arthritis, heart disease or sight impairments. Evaluate each room of the home including, the bedroom, living room, the dining room, kitchen, bathroom, the outside and the neighborhood, to determine how well it would meet every day living and an emergency situation, etc. What changes might need to be made, if any, to make it safe and accessible for an older impaired person.
