Assignment: Write an essay of 7-8 pages (not including the Works Cited page(s).) using A History of the World in 6 Glasses as the primary text. Compare one early beverage to one later beverage-that is, compare a beverage from one of the first six chapters to one from the last six chapters. By the way, each beverage has two chapters in the book devoted to it.

You will have considerable latitude as to how to write this assignment, but you must consider the political, economic, and cultural aspects in your description and analysis. Additionally, please address the following questions:

• What changes came about as a result of the beverages revealed in your chapters?

• What is the geographical scope? - Wide/narrow? Local/regional? International? Be specific. Look at this as a dogfight. Dig out the differences/similarities and pursue them aggressively.

In crafting your paper, you must use Standage's book by citing his text to support your points. It is therefore necessary and required that you make use of citations to give credit to the author for the material of his that you use. Use appropriate MLA format at all times. All papers must have an introduction and a grand conclusion. In the middle should be the rest of your work.

Nota Bene: An "A" paper will connect Standage's book to material covered in this course-in the textbook and/or lecture. They will also employ at least two sources from outside the course (books, articles, etc.). Otherwise excellent papers, receive a maximum of "B."
