Assignment:

Beyond The Calories (BTC) is a business that was started by two friends, Cassandra, and Nisha. BTC is focused on ensuring customers know more about the quality of the food and beverage that they consume e.g., levels of sugar, fat, and protein. BTC plans to offer a range of foods and beverages where the quality (nutrition level) will be stated on each item. They plan to first offer products online and then establish a chain of stores across North America. BTC aims to increase customer awareness of food quality, so that customers can make healthier choices and live healthier lives.

BTC believes that a specific segment of the population will want this type of product, however, since it is new, they are unsure of initial demand. BTC also believes that once demand starts to increase, other larger companies in the food and beverage industry will quickly start to compete with BTC. BTC decides to place a priority on the production process of the food and beverages since that will be important to accurately identify the nutrition levels. They also believe branding will be a key to the business's success and support its higher price point.

BTC is Cassandra's and Nisha's first business. They believe in the purpose of the business, despite the risk of larger competitors and changing tastes that are common in the food and beverage industry.
