Francis, who is 20, was in foster care for most of her childhood after being removed from her home when she was 7 due to severe neglect including starvation. She did not remain in the same foster home for long due to her behaviors and when she was 16 she ran away, living either on a friend's couch or in shelters. During that time, she made money as a sex worker and used substances heavily. Over the course of the next few years, she experienced repeated sexual assaults and violent random attacks at night. She is currently a resident at a treatment facility where you are her case worker. Francis struggles in a few areas, but especially when it comes to facility rules and seemingly random violent behaviours towards other residents. She also shows difficulty focusing during programming and will regularly get upset or leave. She does not remember a lot of what has happened to her regarding the specifics of her trauma.

Francis does not have a family, nor has she made any friends in treatment. What can you do to help Francis with her self-development and identity?
